The Parisian Trends Worth Following

We returned from Paris today…a little jet lagged and really excited about the products we found and the ideas we conceived. Promotional trends usually come distantly behind the fashion and social trends, but it doesn’t necessarily have to. Why not add your company logo to something people want?

Our trip’s main purpose was to visit the Maison & Objet trade show. This show is know to have great brands, beautiful designs and always something new and on trend…after all, it is in Paris! And, while we did find new brands, we were also able to reconnect with some of our great partners.

At the show, we saw the trend of sustainability really taking hold. As a child of the early 90’s when the Save the Rainforest campaigns were spreading through schools, this warmed my heart. We saw wood, glass, reusable and recycled materials, and very little plastic. In fact, there was very little plastic in Paris at all! We have a holistic philosophy that you should only have to buy an item once. My water bottle is the same one I’ve had for years. It’s easy to clean and it still keeps my water cold for days.

Another trend was utility as fashion. This was also seen on the streets of the trend setting city as Carhartt placed sexy ads all over the metro system. As a city where everyone spends so much time outside, they have made functionality beautiful. The warm scarves, the hats and the gloves aren’t just accessories. Men, women, and children alike dressed to impress, all while being comfortable and warm.

Pompom hats were also a big trend! Along with the beret I promised a screenshot 2019-01-23 08.44.39favorite client I’d get (thus the photograph of me eating a macaron in a beret in front of the Eiffel Tower), I grabbed myself one of these fun hats.

The last trend I want to mention is organization. The new year is in full swing. Spring cleaning is around the corner. And, Marie Kondo is showing us all how to live more joyfully on Netflix. Things like desk and file organizers, pencil boxes, and space saving decor is really making an impact in our offices.

All in all, this trip changed us. It gave us a new perspective, got us outside of our bubble and we loved every minute. We hope that bringing beauty and functionality together is more than just a trend and that sustainable promotional options continue growing!
