The first time I ever heard the term glassybaby I was living in North Carolina and thought my mom was crazy for spending so much on a votive. She, of course, disregarded my indignation for the “very special gift” and bought a dozen of them for her colleagues.
But, the first time I received one, I knew how special they are. Maybe it’s the energy of the gift giver when they give a glassybaby or the votives themselves with names like kindess, sassy and Master of the Universe that spark a light in all the recipients. It really is a special gift.
The votives themselves are small, measuring around 2.5” x 3.5”, but they are bold. They are available in every shade of every color you’ve ever imagined and about 100 more in beautiful colors you didn’t realize existed. My daughter loves the book Swatch: The Girl Who Loves Color, glassybaby votives are the yellowest-yellow character in that book. The yellowest-yellow appears only at dawn in the form of a tiny dandelion, but reveals itself as this indomitable enigmatic energy, demanding respect and exposing Swatch to a world (or at least an alternate view) where colors are free to run wild and so does her creativity. When you receive a glassybaby, like Swatch, you’ll feel the aliveness of the color.
We are in a business of gift giving. And, at the heart of gift-giving is making people feel truly special and appreciated. Glassybaby does that so well. They aren’t commonplace yet in the corporate gifting world, so they are a great option if you are still in search of that perfectly unique gift. They can be custom engraved, are individually packaged, and include a (semi) personalized note. The glassybaby company was founded in Seattle by a cancer survivor wanting to give back. They have donated over $9,000,000.00 to charity and we are so proud to be a small part of this.
When we, at Kreativo want to gift our clients, making them feel as special as they are, glassybaby is our gift of choice. This week, in fact, we are giving away a glassybaby called ‘Welcome’ for first time orders on coolperx.
Tech companies and startups – These are gifts that would be great to stock up on, store them and pull one out when a visiting CEO comes through. You won’t have to take the time to buy something new constantly, but they will be special regardless.
Hospitals – Having worked in a few hospitals and hospital systems, I know the struggle they have of finding gifts for recruiting, rewarding, and gifting employees, physicians, and other visitors. These are small enough to not take up too much room in the little storage hospitals have and make a big impact.
Restaurants – Adding small touches of color or ambiance to restaurants is always a creative challenge. Flowers work well, but have to be replaced daily and sometimes more often. These simply need to be lit.
**Note: Some votive colors look “off” when using some battery operated tea lights. The overtly yellow light from the LED candles aren’t as pretty in colors like the reds or the whites.
